Morgan's Vale and Woodfalls CE Primary School

Uniform

Principles

It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy and on our school website.

Aims

Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • engenders a feeling of community and belonging
  • is practical and smart
  • identifies the children with the school
  • is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be)
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
  • has been designed with health and safety in mind.

Our colours are green, purple and yellow and the uniform is as follows:

Boys

  • School green sweatshirt with school logo
  • School purple polo shirt with school logo
  • School green fleece and/or reversible fleece jacket with school logo
  • School green book bag with school logo
  • Grey trousers or grey shorts
  • Sensible, smart, completely black shoes
  • Dark socks

Girls

  • School green sweatshirt with school logo or School green knitted cardigan with school logo
  • School purple polo shirt with school logo
  • School green fleece and/or reversible fleece jacket with school logo
  • School green book bag with school logo
  • Grey skirt, grey trousers or culottes, grey pinafore dress
  • Green gingham dresses may be worn in warmer weather
  • Sensible, smart, completely black shoes
  • Plain green, purple or grey tights
  • White or dark socks

For PE all children need:

  • School yellow polo shirt with school logo
  • School black PE shorts
  • Dark tracksuit or jogging bottoms to be worn, on top of School PE shorts, when the weather is colder - therefore no leggings
  • A pair of plimsolls for indoor PE
  • A pair of trainers for outdoor PE
  • KS2 will need shin pads and long black football socks

Optional items

  • School green gym bag with school logo

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear fashion jewellery in our school. A single pair of small, circular stud earrings and / or watch may be worn, but must be removed for PE and other active sessions. If you are considering getting your child’s ears pierced please could you do this during the long Summer holiday.

Make up and Cosmetics

Make up and cosmetics are not considered appropriate or consistent with our school uniform. The school does not permit such products to be worn by any children, unless there is a specific event for which the Headteacher has given permission. This includes fake tattoos.

Hair

Hair styles should be sensible, smart and not distracting. Long hair should be tied back with small, simple hair bands and clips. The school considers that the colouring of hair is not appropriate or consistent with our School uniform, unless there is a specific event for which the Headteacher has given permission.

All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with your child’s name
