Academy Status
Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School shut in August 2013 in order to reopen as an academy in September as MVW Academy trading as Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Church of England Primary School. The Governors of the School took this step following a consultation period with all our stakeholders so the School could extend its age range to 2-11 and incorporate the Pre-School. This has allowed us to simplify our accounts, staffing and management structures and continue the benefits the School and Pre-School have enjoyed since working together from 2009.
The School is now funded directly by the Department for Education through the Education Funding Agency and has been able to access an additional £750,000 to invest in buildings and facilities since 2013 that would not have been available to the School had it not converted to an academy. With this money, the School has been through two phases of building resulting in three additional classrooms, a dedicated library, additional small group spaces and toilets and a reworking and extension of the entrance to the School and its offices. The money has also enabled the School to replace the flat roofing and install new security entrance doors.
