Sports Premium
Sport Allocation and Spending Statement
Financial Year 2023/24
Allocated Funds
Sports Premium Allocation: £ 16 880
How this was spent
During this academic year the Sports Premium money was spent on:
- Hiring specialist sports coaches to work with our staff to improve their confidence in teaching games eg. football, cricket, athletics and multisports. Purchasing sports equipment to increase the range of sports enjoyed by pupils at the school
- Hiring a qualified sports coach to provide multisport activities afterschool for KS2 and Football for KS2 pupils. Also introducing sports activities at lunchtimes using qualified coaches eg. football 2x lunchtimes a week for KS2 and multisports for KS1.
- Purchasing equipment to make sporting activities more accessible to children with SEND (bocca and curling). The minibus has supported sending teams to compete in local and county festivals and the ability to transport children in wheelchairs has made this a fully inclusive event.
- Extending the range of sporting opportunities experienced by our children by providing taster sessions for sports such as bowling, sailing, skiing and rock climbing and linking with local sports clubs to allow them to continue their interest. Year 5 and 6 completed an activity week that included forest and beach school activities and sailing.
- Attending local sports festivals and inter-school sports friendly fixtures (Hockey, Rugby, Orienteering and Football area festivals and friendlies with local schools, KS1 multisports festival at Burgate)
- Maintaining the school minibuses to allow children to access local sports festivals and the taster sessions listed above. Minibuses also allow the school to access sports facilities such as the Astroturf pitch and swimming pool in Salisbury.
- Hiring Lover Village Green and Old School building to facilitate our Sports Day. The children played a range of team sports (Football, Lacrosse, Rounders, Hockey) in the morning before being joined by parents in the afternoon for our traditional Sports Day of running and obstacle races collecting house points to find the winning House.
- Developing the School’s outdoor spaces to encourage greater activity at break times after the completion of the School’s building project.
- Embedding physical activity into the school day through active lessons and teaching. Children aged 10+ were offered Bikeability courses to encourage them to be active and safe riding their bikes.
